PostHeaderIcon A Pictoral Review of Our Summer

The following are photos from our summer, with one thrown in from April that I forgot to post earlier. Enjoy!

The following is from back April at Owen’s first preschool. I never wrote about Owen’s experience with preschool, except for his first day there. It ended in May, and it was overall a great experience for him. He gained a lot of self confidence which carried over into our everyday life. He has continued to grow socially over the summer and has been making great progress in all areas of development. Owen was sad to say goodbye to Miss Kim and Miss Cathy, and to the rest of his class. This September we had planned to start him at a 5 day a week public preschool, but we ended up not thinking it was a good fit for him. Instead, he returned to his old 2 day a week program with Miss Kim, Miss Cathy, two of his old friends, and two new friends. He is loving it, and I am so happy to have him back in a familiar place.

A wedding we went to in May. They had a special optional booth set up called “The Smooch Project”. One of the brides relatives was doing a project of taking photos of people kissing each other. So we signed up and got a family photo out of the deal as well:

This photo is from June when Owen fell down the cement stairs leading out of our apartment. He had quite the egg on his forehead for awhile:

Also in June, we had some fun vintage photos taken. These will probably just serve as Owen’s 4 year photos, unless I can get my act together and go take him for a photo shoot soon. I think it would be fun to do an urban setting, with brick walls and pipes and stuff. Anyone know of a good locale?

On June 25th we went for a walk at a neighborhood lake and took the camera along with us. It always makes for some great photo opportunities:

This was on June 30th. We went downtown and celebrated our college acceptances. Owen had a blast running through the sprinklers:

4th of July picnic!

On July 10th we went up to the lake with the relatives. We had a great time! Owen loved playing in the water, and he is becoming a lot more social with everyone:

In July we went on a vacation to Galena Illinois with Grammie and Grampy. We had a good time. We even got some geocaching in:

This is some pop art I did from one of the photos from our vacation:

On July 24th we went to the Mississippi River, which is one of our familiar haunts. Owen found his first geocache this day!

On July 25th we went to a state park to let Owen swim at the beach. We have gone here several times this summer and it is a nice relaxing little beach. Last time we went, Owen played with another little boy for most of the afternoon at the beach and then we went for a canoe ride in the lake.

On August 5th, we met up with a nature club that encourages children to play and interact with nature. Owen had a great time. His favorite thing was foraging raspberries and eating them on our walk:

On August 16th we went to Happy Tails, Aunt Diane and Unlce Mike’s mini farm:

These are just a few random shots from this summer. They are individually captioned:

These are traditional family photos that we take on our wedding anniversary each year. This was August 24th, our 13th year anniversary:

On August 29th we all went to the Minnesota State Fair:

On September 12th we went to the sprint car races with Grampy. Owen had a great time, especially playing in the sandbox with his cousins:

And that brings us to the end of the summer. On September 19th we had a family day at my Great Aunt and Uncle’s house. We all had a great time. The neighbors had the kids over to jump in their blow up bouncy castle. At first Owen was really reluctant, so I went in with him so he could get used to it. Once he got going he didn’t want to stop! Then we took a big group photo. It was a really fun day and Owen did not want to go home:
